In Today’s Brew: tragic Washington avalanche deaths, ski action from JH, Europe and more…
Daily Brew | February 20
Washington Avalanche Deaths | Sunday was a tragic day in the Washington backcountry. A slide near Steven’s Pass killed three skiers and one at Snoqualmie Pass took the life of a snowboarder. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of all involved.
Jim Jack was one of the victims in the Steven’s Pass slide. Jim was a pioneer of our sport and head judge on the Freeskiing World Tour. Those of you in Utah should check out a celebration of Jim’s life at Snowbird today. From the Freeskiing World Tour facebook page:
Freeskiing World Tour, in conjunction with Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort, will be hosting a get-together at Snowbird, tomorrow (Monday, Feb. 20th) at 4pm in the tram plaza, for tram rides to the top of Snowbird in memorial of our friend, Jim Jack.
There will be no downhill traffic and no lift passes needed for rides to the top of Hidden Peak. All friends, family, and public welcome to celebrate the life of our brother, and amazing freeskiing spirit.
